Mediation

Reconciliation & Healing of Conflict

The mediation process includes individual assessments, conflict coaching sessions, mutual understanding, agreement sessions, with an option of commitment & follow up sessions, as well as write up of solution agreements. You will also receive skills learning and access to practical and supportive learning resources.

John works with founders, leadership, family businesses, families and communities, particularly in the technology, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors.

The Approach is based in a form of empathic communication called Nonviolent Communication (NVC), an international body of work proven over decades around the world to be powerfully effective and transformational. John's approach integrates a mediation framework, neuroscience, and mindfulness. It includes a restorative Reconciliation & Healing Process for unresolved emotional hurt and pain – broken trust and connection, ruptured relationship, perceived harm or damage – when this is the source of the conflict or an aspect of it.

The Mediation Process is to empathically hear and understand each other's conflicting differences, then find underlying connection, commonality, and shared humanity, and then move into cooperative problem-solving and agreements. The phases of the mediation process move from a joint Orientation session, to individual Preparation sessions, to joint Mutual Understanding sessions, to joint Solution and Agreements sessions. There is also the option of a Commitment session and Follow Up/Check In sessions.

Outcomes:

  • Transform challenging situations
  • Enhance cooperation and collaboration
  • Build relational resilience to respond to adversity
  • Foster synergy and partnership
  • New creative possibilities — emergent solutions and outcomes
  • Restore ruptured, fractured relationships

Through empathic conversation skills, structure, and processes you learn to:

  • Lead through empathic communication and conversation, producing results through connection and conflict transformation
  • Have difficult and healing conversations that catalyze positive change and move the individual, the team, the family or community forward into new emergent possibilities
  • Create the understanding, connection, psychological safety, and trust that supports cooperation and synergy

Culture Change

Building a Culture of Empathic Connection

Where there are divisions and ruptures within organizational culture, there is a powerful opportunity to transform that energy into greater connection and collaboration. When we learn to empathically listen and authentically express in ways that create understanding and reconciliation, new creative and innovative possibilities emerge. Building a culture of empathy is an opportunity for healing collective divides at the core of deeper societal conflicts and polarization arising in the organization.
